WMC: Vince Carter wins NBA’s Teammate of the Year award
Memphis Grizzlies guard Vince Carter was named the NBA’ Teammate of the Year.
The Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award is voted on by over 300 NBA players.
Carter received 65 first place votes, beating out Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett by more than 500 points.
Carter joins previous winners Tim Duncan, Shane Battier, and Chauncey Billups in winning the award since its inception in 2012-13.
Carter will be presented with the award by former Grizzly Shane Battier during Game 3 of the NBA Finals Wednesday night.
The award is named after former NBA Hall of Famers Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes, who were teammates in the 1950s.
The NBA will donate $25,000 to Carter’s foundation, the Embassy of Hope Foundation, which assists organizations and individuals in improving the quality of life for children.
Carter beat out runners-up Garnett, Chris Bosh (Miami), Andre Miller (San Antonio), and Caron Butler (Sacramento).
