CA: View-seekers buying Artesian condos faster than expected
Residences are selling faster than expected at the new Artesian condominium, a 16-floor luxury tower that lords over the Mississippi River from atop a tall base: the South Bluffs.
So far 112, or 78 percent, of the 143 units at 717 Riverside are sold, listing agent Mike Parker of the Marx-Bendsdorf real estate firm said Friday.
The condos went on sale last summer followed by a “launch” event in October, when Parker projected the building would be sold out by March 2018. Now, with several units selling each week, the closings are on pace to fill the building nearly a year early, by next May.
“We’ve had all races, ages, creeds, religions. It’s kind of been interesting that way, how it’s been young, old,” he said. “One of our biggest condo owners is a 28-year-old man, and one of our biggest condo owners is a 70 plus-year-old man.”
Pat and Anne Halloran had a west-facing, river view from their former house on the South Bluffs. But it was nothing like the nearly 360-degree view they enjoy now from their penthouse condo of more than 3,000 square feet.
“This view is 100 times better,” Anne Halloran said Friday.
Demand has been so strong that there’s been no negotiating, Parker said, adding, “Full price each time, plus any upgrades.”
The Hallorans did not just buy a condo, they bought a lifestyle. The Artesian offers indoor and outdoor pools downstairs, a California-style rooftop patio worthy of fashion-photography shoots, exercise and yoga rooms, a bike-storage room, library and other amenities.
