MDN: FedEx Subsidiary Expanding With Memphis Health Care Facility
FedEx subsidiary Genco is opening a 1.1 million-square-foot multitenant warehouse for health care manufacturers in Memphis along with a similar facility in Ontario, Canada.
The third-party logistics provider, which FedEx Corp. acquired for $1.4 billion in early 2015, announced the network expansion on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The Memphis and Ontario warehouses will allow multiple small- and medium-sized manufacturers to operate alongside each other in one warehouse, using a designated space equipped with a shared technology platform.
The solution, according to Genco, increases customers’ access to flexible cost structures, rapid scalability and the Genco and FedEx service portfolios. The multitenant approach also helps manage regulatory compliance and alleviates fixed operating costs, the company said.
The new Memphis and Ontario facilities have support to store and distribute virtually all classes of health care products and include advanced warehouse, labor and quality management technology. The facilities will also be properly licensed to support kitting and relabeling activities, according to Genco.
