One of Memphis’ largest companies is also considered one of the world’s most ethical.
International Paper Co. was recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as a 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company.
The global leader in the production of renewable fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper products, International Paper has received the honor 11 times — every year since the recognition was started.
“At International Paper, it is our vision to be among the most successful, sustainable and responsible companies in the world,” said Sharon Ryan, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for International Paper, in a release. “Our 55,000 global employees are committed to improving people’s lives, the planet and our company’s performance by transforming renewable resources into products people depend on every day. I want to congratulate our global team for achieving this well-earned recognition.”
The World’s Most Ethical Company designation is based off an Ethics Quotient (EQ) developed by Ethisphere. Scores for each company are determined using the following framework: Ethics and Compliance program; Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility; Culture of Ethics; Governance; leadership, innovation and reputation.
