MDN: Christian Brothers University Rolls Out Second Phase of $70 Million Master Plan After raising $42 million of a $70 million capital campaign goal sooner than expected, leaders of Christian Brothers University are embarking on a more aggressive, $28 million second phase that will change the geography of the Fairgrounds-area campus. MBJ: CBU emerges as new Crosstown High School partner “Plans have resurfaced for a high school at Crosstown Concourse after Gestalt Community Schools abandoned its plans in October. Shelby County Schools superintendent Dorsey Hopson presented plans for a 500-student high school within the $200 million Crosstown development. The school would be a partnership between Shelby County Schools and recently formed nonprofit Crosstown High School Inc. “Christian Brothers University is bringing the 42nd Treasurer of the United States to Memphis Oct. 2 to kick off its inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference. Anna Escobedo Cabral, Unit Chief for Strategic Communications in the External Relations Division of theInter-American Development Bank (IDB), served as treasurer during Hurricane Katrina, providing advice and counsel to the Treasury Department in its efforts to provide economic assistance to devastated areas. Cabral also oversaw a 2005 currency redesign, which was supposed to help defeat counterfeiting efforts and included a more colorful $10 bill.
