CA: Memphis in May reports $88 million economic impact in 2016 The Memphis in May International Festival delivered $88 million in economic impact this year, according to an analysis made public Wednesday; that’s up 15 percent from a similar study five years ago. The economic impact figure was produced by Sharon Younger of Younger Associates, a firm that previously prepared studies for Memphis clients including Shelby Farms Park and the Riverfront Development Corp. Featuring a tribute to Poland, the country being honored this year, the annual commemorative fine arts poster for the 2015 festival has been officially unveiled. Created by Memphis artist Lester Merriweather, who based his work on “the natural beauty of the honored country,” the painting and the poster will be available for sale leading up to Memphis in May. A juried, biannual market for all things vintage is headed to Memphis next year, the product of two friends who share a love of antiques, flea markets, barn sales and giving new life to things that have a bit of history to them.
